A longtime public servant, Tom Suozzi has a strong track record of delivering results so the people of Long Island can have a cleaner environment.
Suozzi was an environmental champion during his tenures as Nassau County executive and Mayor of Glen Cove. His leadership included spearheading a Superfund and brownfield site cleanup that was formally recognized by then-Vice President Al Gore. He also helped pass a bond measure to preserve open space and improve and protect water quality and developed the county’s comprehensive Clean Air and Energy Action Plan.
In Congress, Suozzi will prioritize protecting the Long Island Sound and promoting clean energy. An environmental leader who knows how to get things done, he is committed to delivering federal funding to protect the environment for the people of the 3rd Congressional District.
Suozzi fills the seat being vacated by retiring Representative Steve Israel, who received a lifetime score of 95 percent on LCV’s National Environmental Scorecard through 2015.
In his own words:
“Throughout my career I have worked hard to clean up pollution, preserve open space, clean up toxic sites, protect our air and the Long Island Sound, and to ensure our drinking water is clean. I will continue that fight in Congress.”
