Today the League of Conservation Voters congratulated Doug Jones on being elected to the U.S. Senate in the Alabama special election.
“The people of Alabama have chosen a senator who will stand up for our shared conservation values,” said Conservation Alabama Executive Director Tammy Herrington. “We look forward to working with Doug Jones to protect our state’s lands and water and the people and communities that rely on them.”
“We are so proud to have supported Doug Jones in this campaign, and we congratulate him on his election to the United States Senate,” said LCV Senior Vice President of Government Affairs Tiernan Sittenfeld. “Jones has spent his entire career fighting for communities, and he will bring that same spirit to the Senate where he will protect our air, water and lands. We need more independent leaders like Jones, and his victory tonight demonstrates that voters are tired of offensive rhetoric, despicable behavior, extremist ideas, and disregard for our environment and public health. The people of Alabama deserve someone who will stand up for their interests, and tonight they got it by electing Doug Jones to represent them in the Senate.”
LCV contributed $250,000 to the superpac Highway 31’s independent expenditure to help elect Doug Jones.
GiveGreen, a project of LCV Action Fund supported by NRDC Action Fund PAC, has raised or contributed over $50,000 for Jones’ campaign.
